UPDATE
Thanks to your generous support, Tequila's medical expenses have been covered! She has now begun taking medication to break up the worms in her heart and will continue her injections in the new year.
Tequila is recovering in her foster home. Her foster mom says she is, "definitely as sweet and polite as she is cute. She's been amazing companion in the short time we've spent together and she is a wonderful patient!"
Thank you for giving Tequila a second chance at life!
Angel Fund recipients are given a second chance thanks to donors like you!
Created in 2007, the Angel Fund ensures animals receive the medical care they need, regardless of expense.
The Angel Fund has saved many animals in the past, but right now Tequila needs your help.
Tequila had a long journey before coming to LHS .
Volunteers from the Puppy Pipeline in Georgia drove all night to bring Tequila and other animals in need to LHS. This organization recovers pets from overcrowded shelters in Georgia and transfers them to rescues that have room to help. Tequila had a litter of puppies who were also transferred to Ohio and have been adopted into loving homes.
It was discovered that Tequila is heartworm positive.
Without proper treatment, this diagnosis is likely fatal.
At LHS, Tequila has begun receiving pre-treatment to prepare her for the painful injections needed to break down the worms in her heart. She will continue to fight off the infection in the new year. While her body fights this disease, she will need 6-8 weeks of crate rest.
This loving girl won't go down without a fight! At only 3 years old, Tequila has so much life to live. After her long journey, Tequila's sweet and bubbly personality is starting to shine through. She deserves a second chance at life.
The holiday season is full of joy and generosity. Give Tequila hope for the holidays by donating below.
Tequila's treatment will cost upwards of $1,500.
This estimate includes pre-treatment medications, heartworm injections, and additional examinations/lab work to monitor her recovery. In addition to her extensive medical care, LHS will spay and microchip Tequila, as well as provide her with preventatives and initial vaccines.
All donations made to this fundraising page will be designated to our Angel Fund. 100% of your gift will help provide medical care to Tequila and other pets in need. Scroll to the bottom of this page to read about our other Angel Fund recipients.
