Lucy's Road to Recovery
Lucy is a one year old cat that was brought to Lake Humane Society on December 9th after being hit by a car in Mentor. A Good Samaritan who witnessed the incident took Lucy to a local animal hospital. She was then transferred to Lake Humane Society for her care because she required a leg amputation and the cost was too great for the animal hospital to cover. We are thankful for our supporters who donate to our Angel Fund and give us the opportunity to change the lives of Lake County's most vulnerable animals.
Lake Humane took her in and after being assessed by our Veterinarian, we determined that she had multiple abrasions and trauma on her face and body, as well as her front right leg was paralyzed. Our Veterinarian decided that it would be best for Lucy's front right leg to be amputated.
On December 17th, after days of monitoring Lucy and providing her with medical care and pain management, our medical staff amputated her front right leg. Along with the amputation, the medical staff spayed her to prepare her for adoption once she is fully recovered.
Make a donation today to make Lucy's continued recovery possible! The cost of Lucy's amputation surgery could cost upwards of $1,200. Fortunately, thanks to donations made by our community, we are able to employ an in-house veterinarian and medical team to care for our animals in need. Donations allow us to purchase medical supplies, equipment, and medications, in addition to paying for the professionals who oversee the medical care of our animals with compassion and devotion. We can't help pets in need, like Lucy, without your support. All donations made to this page will be designated to our Angel Fund, which benefits animals in need of extensive medical care. These donations will go directly to the care of Lucy and other animals in need. All gifts are tax-deductible.
UPDATE 1/3/2020: Lucy has been adopted and is now in her forever home! Thank you to everyone that donated towards her surgery and care. We wouldn't be able to do our life saving work without our generous supporters! Thank you!
