UPDATE 12/22/21: We are excited to share that Sparky's treatment has been covered in full! Sparky is on the road to recovery. In two weeks, he has already gained 10 lbs! This young dog is responding well to his medical regimen and is healing from his infections. Any additional gifts to Sparky's Angel Fund will be used to help other pets in need of medical care.
Sparky came to Lake Humane Society in terrible shape. If the Good Samaritan had not found Sparky, this sweet dog would not have survived much longer.
Upon arrival, Sparky was immediately evaluated by LHS's medical team and was determined to be severely emaciated and dehydrated. His body condition score was rated a 2 out of 9...with 1 being the worst score an animal can have.
Further medical examination revealed numerous infections, including an upper respiratory infection, and whipworms. Bloodwork and tests were taken to determine if there were any additional medical concerns.
Sparky started several medications and is receiving a high calorie diet to help him gain weight. Right now, this sweet boy weighs only 32 lbs. Despite his condition, Sparky is in good spirts and loves spending time with LHS staff. This young dog has so much life left to live!
Sparky's health is being closely monitored by LHS's medical team and staff. It is uncertain how long Sparky was without food and water. He will remain in our care until he can safely gain 10-15 lbs and heal from his medical ailments.
Lake Humane Society relies on community donations and does not receive any county, state or federal funding to care for pets like Sparky.
Sparky's treatment will cost upwards of $1,000 - His care has been covered in full!
This estimate includes high calorie food, antibiotics, dewormer, and additional examinations/lab work to monitor his recovery. In addition to his extensive medical care, LHS will neuter and microchip Sparky, as well as provide him with preventatives and initial vaccines.
All donations made to this fundraising page will be designated to our Angel Fund, and 100% of your gift will go toward Sparky and other animals in need of medical care. Scroll to the bottom of this page to read about our other Angel Fund recipients.
We can't give these loving pets a second chance without you! Please donate today.
